Interview with Darkstone Crows

What’s the inspiration behind the song ‘Piece of Mind’?

Jiv: Piece of Mind was inspired by a friend of mine that was sexually abused. She eventually ended up developing multiple personality disorder as a result of the trauma. I wrote the lyrics from her perspective and what I would imagine she went through. Obviously. I could never know what she went through but it was a lyrical peek into that situation; an exploration.

If you could co-operate with any band or artist who would it be a
nd why?

Elle: Stevie Nicks. I’d love to sing with her. She has such a unique, beautiful voice and I love her music. She’s very interesting and her music and lyrics really strike a chord with me.

Nick: Misha Mansooe or Nolly Getgood. Hands down, the best producers I’ve ever heard.

Jiv: Tool for sure. Because a) they’d be back in full swing and b) I’d learn so much from their musicianship.

Matt: Avenged Sevenfold because they are Gods.

Russ: Probably Jim Root of Slipknot, the guy has some serious modern chops, but a very classic mind for music.

Where did the band name, Darkstone Crows, come from?

Originally, we were thinking Darkstorm Crows, but one day, Jiv was stumbling on her words and said Darkstone Crows and it stuck.

How do you balance your personal life and your musical career?

You have to prioritize the music, always.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see next?

We are currently working on our first full length album, featuring Jonny Rage and Lindsay Schoolcraft of Cradle of Filth!

And don’t forget to check them out on Twitter and Facebook!
