What inspired the lyrics for ‘Pogo Romance’ from your EP ‘Things on Your Mind’?
The song is about failure and the lyrics are basically inspired by a couple of events in my life that seemed promising at the start but turned out to be not what I expected them to be because of mistakes that were made along the way. There’s still a ‘glimpse of hope’ though in the last line of the lyrics that I felt every time I’ve been through one of those events and situations.
Tell me about your weirdest fan experience?
We were asked once to write our names on a naked chest after a show at a festival. It was a drunk guy and he had a whole bunch of chest hair which made the signing process not that easy. Technically though it was our first time signing boobs!
How did you come up with the band name ‘Pranx’?
It’s a shorter version of ‘Prank FanatiX’ which was the name of the first band of Rouven (bass, vocals) and Boris (guitar, vocals). It’s a remnant of the old band even though we see PRANX as an entire new project. The original Prank FanatiX name was inspired by the term ‘faith fanatics’ in Green Day’s song ‘East Jesus Nowhere’.
I can see you guys are heavily influenced by bands such as Blink-182, would you ever want to co-operate or tour with them?
Definitely! They’re one of the bands that got us into this genre, working with them would be a dream come true.
What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see next?
After our music video for the song ‘Pogo Romance’ there will also be a music video for the fourth and last song of the EP which is called ‘Nightmare’. We’re basically writing new songs all the time, so at the end of the year we’ll be hitting the studio to record our second EP.
